I have always believed that a good makeup look starts with a great makeup base-- HEALTHY SKIN! Ever since I was young my brother and I have suffered from mild to severe eczema. Any little thing could trigger an outbreak so my parents were always cautious with what products we could or couldn't use. Due to this skin condition I have always had pretty dry skin all over my body, including my face. So though I never really broke out in acne throughout puberty, I did break out in painfully dry patches all over my face. It took years to break down and find products that worked well with my skin to keep the outbreaks few and far between. Read along with me and maybe you can find a product that can do miracles for you the way it did for me!
SKIN TYPE: Dry, Dehydrated, Allergic, and Eczema Prone.
BASE SKINCARE REGIMEN
(my solid group of products I build on top of)
1. MAKEUP REMOVAL:
If my day has required me to wear a face of makeup the first thing I must do is remove all traces!
MY TOP PICK: Bioderma Hydrobio H2O
Just like any micellar solution I saturate a cotton round and do a bunch of firm passes over my skin until the cotton pad remains clear.
*On heavier makeup days I use Biotherm Total Renew Oil on my dry skin, massaging deeply until it reaches a rich lather. Rinse off!
2. CLEANSER:
For the last few months I have been using the Bioderma Sensibio Foaming Cleanser
I dampen my skin with warm water and use a dime sized amount of cleanser on my Clarisonic Mia 2 to gently exfoliate and get a deeper cleanse.
3. TONER:
Toner is a fantastic step to help rebalance your skin. I saturate a cotton round with Simple Soothing Toner and thoroughly coat my skin. After cleansing my skin can feel irritated and tight, doing a few passes with a soothing toner has helped relieve some redness that peaks through my skin after a deep cleansing!
To finish the toning process I go in with a few sprays of Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray or Vichy Thermal Water to strengthen and soothe my skin!
4. MOISTURIZE:
Using a serum enables a rush of hydration deep into your skin. The formula of a serum is usually much thinner yet concentrated in comparison to your usual moisturizing creams or lotions, this allows all the good stuff to penetrate further into your skin!
Moisturizer cream, these products are fantastic on dry or dehydrated skin. They absorb quickly and leave my skin softer and more supple.
*The Idealia line is fantastic for those that fall in the 20-30 age range to help with early anti aging!
Do NOT forget to treat the skin under your eyes! One of the most delicate places on your skin, treat it right and your skin will return the favor.
Another thing I am very strict with is keeping my lips moisturized!! My must have product is: La Roche Posay Cicaplast Lip, another great one is the Avene Cold Cream Lip Butter. Try them out for me if you hate chapped lips as much as I do ;D
ADD INS & TREATMENTS:
(a bunch of the extra great stuff I make sure to use when needed!)
ACNE CONTROL:
*Done as part of my NIGHT ROUTINE
For the times I do sprout a blemish I take my own extreme measures to speed up the healing process. On freshly cleansed skin I use Eskinol Pimple Fighting Solution on a saturated cotton pad on all affected areas. Following up with Neostrata Acne Clear Fluid to form a light seal over the blemish, killing most lingering bacteria. After moisturizing, I go in with Neutrogena Rapid Clear as a spot treatment to fully increase my chances to waking up with clear skin! (coco recommendation hehe)
TREATMENTS:
*ECZEMA MEDICATED TREATMENT
*SHEET MASKS
*PURIFYING MINERAL MASKS
*PEEL OFF MASKS
*PEELING GELS
And that is all folks! Tell me what your must have products are I love trying new items. Hopefully you learned a little bit more about my skin and picked up a few products you want to check out. Happy Skin is Healthy Skin! ♥
